Last night, my father and sister flew in to Dallas and the three of us went to our first-ever Rangers game. Since I come from a long line of New Yorkers, New York Yankees-fandom is in my blood. Seriously, I’m a born-and-bred Yankees fan… as are my father and sister (obviously).
By comparison to them, I’m really not that into baseball – or really any sport for that matter… but when I find myself watching a baseball game, you can bet the farm that I’ll be rooting for the Yankees (sometimes when they’re not even playing… whoops).

So why were three Yankees fans at a Rangers game last night? Because they were playing the Yankees of course!
Even though the Yankees lost (and badly at that), it was a great evening. We got to see Derek Jeter play one last time before he retires at the end of this year. We witnessed Earl Campbell making a historic victory overĀ Sam Houston and Davy Crockett in a race around the stadium – well, a [terrifying] mascot version of Earl Campbell making a historic victory overĀ [similarly terrifying] mascot versions of Sam Houston and Davy Crockett. We ate an outrageously oversized pretzel. I wore my hair in pigtail braids and didn’t look totally out of place.

Overall, it was an all-around enjoyable evening.
Minus the part when the Yankees lost.
