Holiday Cocktails

Today is a great day. I’m running on about 6 hours of sleep and have been awake since 8AM (ungodly early for me for a Saturday… or even a day in general!). But that’s not why it’s great (it’s just a repercussion of greatness). Today is great because [drumroll, please…] I am posting not one, not two, but three (!!) holiday cocktail recipes.

Last night was my company holiday party and – since I’m nothing if not consistent – I had a few friends over for special holiday cocktails and delicious nibbles before the fiesta. I made three different cocktail recipes as well as a positively delicious baked brie (recipe to come soon!).

So let’s hop to it then, shall we?

PS each recipe creates one drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part grapefruit juice
  • 1 part tonic water
  • 2 teaspoons of pomegranate seeds
  • fresh mint leaves

Directions

Add vodka, grapefruit juice, and tonic water to a lowball glass. Add the pomegranate seeds and the mint leaves. The pomegranate seeds will initially sink but will start to float in the drink shortly thereafter.

Original Recipe

Ingredients

  • sparkling wine
  • 1 sprig of rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons of cranberries
  • 1 bamboo or plastic skewer

Directions

Begin by skewering the cranberries to form a line on the skewer. Place in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.

Once the 30 minutes have passed, place the sprig of rosemary and frozen cranberry skewer in a champagne flute. Pour the sparkling wine on top and let it sit for a minute or two before serving (to allow the sparkling wine to soak up the rosemary flavor).
