Honey Baked Pears
Original Recipe
Easy? Yes. Relatively healthy? I think so (?). Great for large groups because it is that easy to make and serve? Resounding yes.
It’s no secret that I love baked fruit desserts. Baked apples… more baked apples… the occasional banana… I just love fruit in warmed dessert form. Though this was my first time experimenting with pears, I promise it will not be my last.
Ingredients
- 2 large pears, halved and cored
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of crushed walnuts
- 2 tablespoons of crushed pecans
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- ground nutmeg, to taste
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350ºF (177ºC) and spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the pears on the baking sheet (I sliced a sliver off of the backs of each slice so the pears would lay flat… also gave me extra little pear crisps!), flesh-side up.
Sprinkle the tops of the pears evenly with cinnamon, crushed walnuts, crushed pecans, and ground nutmeg. Drizzle honey over each pear half (about 1/2 tablespoon of honey on each half). Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes… and then remove and serve hot (and with ice cream!).
