As the final activity of my weekend of fun in the sun in Los Angeles, my friends and I went to the Santa Monica Pier for a little bit of tourityness. Yes, that’s a word. We walked around, people-watched, cringed at the terrible performers and lauded the half-decent ones… we even went on the ferris wheel.
I must say: despite the fact that I’m deathly afraid of heights and was nervous and kind of freaked out the entire time, the ride on the ferris wheel was probably the highlight of my trip. Not only was I stuck in a deathtrap with two of my dearest friends, but I also got to enjoy panoramic views of the California coastline: from Malibu down to Marina Del Ray and beyond. It was every so lovely.
Not to take a total and complete 180° here, but I was injured over the weekend in an unfortunate chivalry-is-dead incident (I asked this guy to get my bag down for me because I couldn’t reach it and he let go of it over my outstretched hand… minor disaster and injury ensued). I wont bore/disgust you with the gory details, but it was super painful and – after 5 days of trying to cope with the pain – I finally went to the doctor yesterday and discovered that I had both broken and severely sprained my thumb. So, for the next three weeks, I’ll be giving everybody a glorious thumb’s up with my right (yes, my dominant) hand.
Please bear with me if my posting gets a little patchy… it’s kind of a pain in the ass to type with only my non-dominant hand. Also, nothing really goes well with a black cast… so the fashion posts might get a little interesting… Get excited.
