What I’m Wearing:

p style=”text-align: center;”>Top: J.Crew / Sweater: J.Crew / Skirt: J.Crew Factory, color sold out / Shoes: C.Wonder, old (similar)
Purse: Vince Camuto / Necklace: J.Crew Factory, old (similar)
Ring: gift (similar) / Earrings: The Pearl Monkey, c/o

My closet has been overrun by J.Crew Jackie Shells and Cardigans. Seriously. I have this top in both navy and green (as seen above) and this sweater in the pictured pink as well as navy, green, and gray. And I haven’t quite ruled out getting them in even more colors.

The Jackie Shell and Jackie Cardigan are both great layering pieces for fall. I wore this exact look to my mother’s birthday party a few weeks ago while I was out in Colorado (flats to a party: genius!). I can’t wait to add a cute coat on top when the weather gets a bit more chilly (or, rather, at all chilly since it’s still 85°F+ in Dallas). This look will definitely be repeated throughout the season – I have eight different looks I can create out of the pieces I already own, after all!

These pieces are also the perfect pieces for packing (ahem: my life). I’m off today for a three-week-long trip to New York and Florida – I made sure to stow the shells and a few of the cardigans in my bag for the trip. The pieces are made from a lightweight wool so they’re perfect for those early fall temperatures… and/or for those chilly conference rooms.

I wear a small in the shell and a medium in the sweater (I like my sweaters a little roomier for layering purposes). Head’s up: the shell is a bit cropped. I’m both short and short-waisted so it’s almost a regular-length top on me, but if you have any semblance of a torso I would definitely recommend sizing up and pairing the top with some high-waisted bottoms.
