Lately, I’ve been starting almost every morning with a homemade açaí bowl. I think I’ve developed an addiction at this point. This berry concoction is just about the best way to start your day. It’s filling without making you stuffed and it’s made up of like 99% berries so it couldn’t possibly be bad for you. Plus, açaí bowls are super delicious.

Seriously, if you’ve never had an açaí bowl, go make one now… they’re freaking amazing.

After months of chowing down on Nékter’s Açaí Banana Berry Bowl at every possible opportunity to the point where I’m pretty sure that AmEx must have assumed that I was attempting to buy the place, I decided to cut costs and start making my favorite breakfast/brunch/snack myself at home (see dad? I know how to budget… ish…).

This recipe is great because you can easily make it in under 5 minutes – making it ideal for a quick breakfast before you dash out the door – and it is super healthy. It’s under 400 calories and totally vegan/vegetarian friendly. Keep reading for the full recipe.

  • 1 packet of Sambazon açaí berry blend
  • 1/2 cup of açaí berry juice
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • optional toppings:
    • 1/2 fresh banana, cut into slices
    • 1/4 cup of blueberries
    • 1/4 cup of strawberries, chopped
    • 1/3 cup of granola


Break the açaí berry blend packet in half and place both halves in the blender. Add the açaí berry juice and frozen banana to the blender and purée until the mixture is smooth (it should be thick – feel free to add more açaí if necessary). Pour the contents of the blender into the bowl.

Top with berries, banana slices, and granola.
