It was 90°F in Dallas yesterday. Which means it is officially SUMMER.

And that means it’s time to choose your refreshing cocktail of the summer. Might I suggest this sparkling margarita?

Sunday night, I had a friend over for evening drinks on the porch with a side of Game of Thrones. I made us a batch of margaritas and then randomly threw in some bubbly and HOLY BAJEEZUS it was the greatest decision of my life. These sparkling margaritas are so light and refreshing – the perfect drink for the hot summer days ahead. Keep reading for the full recipe.

Champagne Margaritas

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 1 lime
  • 3 ounces of tequila
  • 2 ounces of lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of orange juice
  • 1 ounce of simple syrup
  • 2-3 ounces of sparkling wine

DIRECTIONS:

Place the sea salt on a plate. Rub the rim of the glass with the lime wedge before placing the glass face-down on the plate of sea salt. Swirl the rim of glass in the mixture to salt the entire rim of the glass before turning it upright.

Combine all of the ingredients except for the sparkling wine in a cocktail shaker and shake to mix. Place ice in the salted glass and then pour the contents of the content shaker over the ice. Top with the sparkling wine, place a few lime slices and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass before serving.
