Black Cold Shoulder Dress + Giveaway!

Rebecca Taylor Short Sleeve Cold Shoulder Dress

This dress was my first venture into the cold shoulder trend and I must say: I’m diggin it. All season, I’ve been lusting after cold shoulder dress after dress after top after dress and I was so excited to finally give it a whirl with this dress.

Plus the fun ruffley sleeves don’t hurt!

What I’m Wearing:

Dress: Rebecca Taylor (also available via Rent the Runway) / Purse: Saint Laurent (similar for $25)
Shoes: ASOS /  Earrings: BaubleBar / Ring: BaubleBar

I wore this dress over the weekend at my friend’s bachelorette party in New Orleans. One night, the bride asked all of us to wear black dresses. As I am a good Texas girl, I don’t own that color. I own a plethora of yellow dresses and I seriously own maybe one black dress.

So I rented.

Perhaps I was slightly overdressed in this cold shoulder dress for bottle service on Bourbon Street, but, hey, as Oscar Wilde once said, “you can never be overdressed or overeducated.”

BTW, that is basically my life motto (#IAm26YearsOldAndOwn5Ballgowns).

I love using Rent the Runway for events like these because a) what am I going to do with a black dress? (don’t answer that) and b) with a rental, you don’t even have to worry about the booze spills that will undoubtedly occur in such a situation – RTR takes care of all of that when you send your rental back. Genius! Never used Rent the Runway? Click here to get $30 off your first order! Oh and FYI, if you use code FFUNL050216 when you sign up for Rent the Runway Unlimited, you can get your first month for $20 off. Yay deals!

PS in case you were wondering, my favorite restaurants we went to in New Orleans were Café du Monde (of course), Shaya, and Atchafalaya (fun jazz brunch!). Other highlights of the trip included drinking in Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop (the oldest bar in the country!) and touring both the French Quarter and the St. Louis Cemetery #1 (to see Marie Laveau’s tomb).
