Soooo – surprise – I’m back in Dallas! Decided to come home to do things like, oh, laundry. Because having clean underwear is important, no?
I ended up getting in pretty late last night – we left my grandparents’ home in the Hamptons at 10:45AM EST and I walked in the door – after a brief stop at Mi Cocina for dinner – at a 9:45PM CST… aka yesterday, I endured a full 12 hours of travel. SO, as you may have noticed (particularly if you subscribe to get my posts every day!), this post did not go up as planned at 6AM CST today. Because, y’all, I am terrible at planning ahead and I was WIPED when I got home last night. And since my wiped writing is a lot less sensical than my well-rested writing (and – let’s be real – I’m already fairly nonsensical to begin with), so I decided to spare the craziness for the time being. You can thank me later.
What I’m Wearing:
Dress: J.Crew, old (similar, similar) / Sweater: J.Crew / Purse: J.Crew
Shoes: J.Crew Factory / Earrings: similar / Ring: BaubleBar
And now for this dress. This white zip-up dress is one of my favorite dresses. I bought it a few years ago from J.Crew and I seriously wear it all the time in the summer. It’s low cut enough to be flirty on a date (plus the easy access with the zipper OH HAYYYY) (sorry mom), but it’s also long enough to be totally proper for family events, church, etc. I actually wore this dress to dinner in Napa at my favorite restaurant – Bouchon Bistro (anybody else out there like to wear something with an elastic waist when they eat a big meal??).
I really like this dress because it really is a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants-dress (remember that movie/book??). It works on almost every body type… particularly on those who are banana (athletic/narrow), pear (bottom heavy), or hourglass-shaped as the full skirt disguises weight around the thighs and butt while the cinched-in waist accentuates (or even creates!) a waist. I love wearing this white zip-up dress because it really accentuates my hourglass figure (or, if I’ve been eating a lot recently, it turns my pear-shape into an hourglass haha).
As I said above, this dress is [unfortunately] sold out but I found a bunch of super-similar options. I particularly love this white cutout fit-and-flare dress (under $150!), this shirtdress (also available in black, pink, and in plus-size), this gorgeous black frock, this white number (under $100!!!), and this black maxi dress (also under $100).
