I immediately moved out on my own upon graduating college four years ago. And purchased a room full of furniture. It was a lot of dark colors – the colors I had primarily worn in college in the northeast. Dark colors, brass grommets, and a surprising quantity of black furniture (particularly surprising since I no longer even own that color).
Obviously, since that fresh-from-the-frozen-tundra-of-upstate-NY time, my style has slightly changed. In case you missed my living room reveal, my apartment now embraces the fact that I’m a single girl who lives alone. It’s girly as all hell, y’all. There’s pink all over the place, fabulous fashion prints, and even a giant picture of ballerinas. My room did not go with the general theme of my home. I desperately needed a bedroom redesign.

My Bespoke Room actually reached out to me about partnering on this post at the absolute perfect time. I was just starting to work on my bedroom redesign (still in the idea phase, hadn’t actually bought anything really yet).
In case you’re not familiar with My Bespoke Room, let me give you the 411: they’re a room redesign company that operates 100% over the web. You just fill out a [super easy] questionnaire so their team of interior designers can get an idea of what you like. You then send them a budget and you’ll shortly receive a moodboard (one per room) containing their suggestions (and even some alternates). I loved their questionnaire because instead of just saying “shabby chic” and “modern eclectic” and all those other interior designer-y terms, they had pictures of rooms representing all of the various styles so you could literally just click on the one(s) you liked.
In my questionnaire, I told My Bespoke Room that I loved my dresser (it’s an antique – my parents actually bought it before I was born) and the art in my room… but really everything else in my bedroom could use a facelift. In particular, I really wanted a new desk for school. I said I identified with the “traditional & classic” style, and that I really wanted my bedroom to feel sophisticated while also being relaxed, comfy, and colorful.
For my bedroom redesign, My Bespoke Room actually delivered two different moodboards. One theme continued upon on the #PinkChairPalace theme, and one pulled in some blues and other colors (I do love navy!). I chose the #PinkChairPalace theme because I loved how it pulled in the colors that appear in the painting above my bed; the whole room appears colorful and girly yet so simple and comfy.
