Grey Sweater Skirt

Happy Halloween, ghouls and gals! I hope each and every one of you had an absolutely wonderful Halloweekend.

As I mentioned on Friday, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year (second only to Thanksgiving… sorry, but the food wins!). This year, I had two Halloween parties to attend: one on Thursday night with my MBA program, and then I threw my annual Halloween party on Friday night. In case you missed it on Snapchat (In my defense, I did give y’all a head’s up!), Thursday night, I was a Stepford Wife (I actually wore this dress with an apron), and, Friday night, I went as Drogon… the dragon… from Game of Thrones. It was totally epic and I even got an amazing clip of me breathing fire (re: why you should be following me on Snapchat. Because I do weird things apparently.).

What I’m Wearing:

Top: LOFT / Skirt: Ann Taylor / Cape: Leslie Tessler (similar from J.Crew)
Boots: Tory Burch / Purse: Zac Posen (also available via Rent the Runway)
Watch: Daniel Wellington, c/o / Earrings: Ann Taylor / Ring: BaubleBar

Aside from the creativity that Halloween inspires, the other biggest reason why I love Halloween so much is because it’s really the start of real fall in Texas. You’ve heard me mention time and time again how I felt like fall was finally here. Hint: I was lying. Fall doesn’t really get here in full force or stay for more than a week until at least December. Honestly. It’s not at all uncommon for Texas to experience 80°F+ weather on Thanksgiving day. But, typically, we do tend to start experiencing a higher frequency of almost-fall-like-temperatures starting after Halloween. So instead of 80°F+ every single day between now and Thanksgiving, we’re probably going to start sinking into the mid-70’s and – dare I say it – the upper 60’s over the next few weeks.

That’s where this totally adorable grey sweater skirt comes in.

I bought this skirt from Ann Taylor a few weeks ago and – y’all – I’m totally obsessed. It’s so comfy and perfect for work or for play. Also it’s breathable, making it perfect for now, and yet also made of a thicker material, making it ideal for when the weather starts to finally dip into those cooler temperatures. Oh… and did I mention this grey sweater skirt is under $90? Love that!

I actually wore this outfit to class (and then to Shake Shack for lunch) two weeks ago. The whole day, dashing around campus in my olive cape, I totally felt like a super-chic Florence Nightingale. Slash post-war British schoolgirl. Totally a thing. Either way, it was great and I felt the need to share the look so y’all could copy it at home since it’s the perfect preppy fall look (at least in my humble opinion!). Best part? My top and my earrings are both under $50, this grey sweater skirt is under $100, and you can score an almost identical cape for under $200!

Can you say “yaaaaaaaaaaaaas”?
