A Red Bow Blouse Ideal for Boulevarding

what-to-wear-to-smu-game

Hay, friends! I am DONE with finals (well, at least for the time being), I passed all of my classes with flying colors, and my new term starts today! I took a look at my schedule last night and I seriously cannot believe how fast time is flying by – would you believe that the quizzes and midterms for this new semester start next week?!?! Insanity.

A few weeks ago, I posted a bit about this little SMU tradition called “Boulevarding”. Yep, the grammar nerd in me is still in shock that “Boulevarding” is a verb. Boulevarding is basically SMU’s version of a tailgate. Everybody wears red, white, and blue (SMU’s colors because apparently we cannot possibly get more American) and the entire main boulevard (hence the name) of the school shuts down and gets turned into a giant party for hours before each football game.

What I’m Wearing:

Top: J.Crew / Pants: J.Crew / Boots: Tory Burch / Earrings: similar / Ring: BaubleBar

As many of y’all know, I went to Cornell for undergrad. To say that we didn’t tailgate would be a huge understatement. I think I went to a total of two football games throughout all of college, and the only times we ever tailgated were for our Homecoming games… and the tailgate took place in a parking lot roughly the same size as my current apartment… and hardly anybody even went to the football game afterwards. Not so exciting. And I’m pretty sure that’s not even “tailgating” by the south’s standards.

Now that I’ve discovered tailgating/Boulevarding for essentially the first time in my life, I’m so super enjoying it. Due to this newfound love, I teamed up with my darling friend Kate of The Everyday Hostess to style a tailgate a few weeks ago. Kate went to TCU – SMU’s biggest rival – so the whole shoot was a play on the whole idea of red (SMU) vs purple (TCU). As y’all know, I welcome any opportunity to wear a bow, so I couldn’t wear to break out this red bow blouse from J.Crew for the occasion!

I’ll post more details about the shoot (as well as an amazing brownie recipe!) this Wednesday, but, in the meantime, you should definitely pop over to Kate’s blog to check out a few of the recipes she created for our lil afternoon of fun (like this Football Puppy Chow recipe and this Chocolate-Dipped Pretzel Rods recipe!).

PS guys: anytime you’re encouraged to drink during a photoshoot is a great photoshoot in my book. #amiright?
