My Favorite Personal Care Tips for Workouts

I am so excited to be partnering with Dove today to bring you all of my favorite personal care tips for workouts. I employ each of these tips on an almost-daily basis. AKA whenever I work out, which, admittedly, should be a much more frequent occurrence.

One of the things I love about my job as a blogger is getting to partner with brands I truly love. And Dove is 1000% one of those brands. I purchased the Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant less than one week ago, but I’ve already gone back and purchased two more scents because I honestly like it so much.

Whether you’re dashing from work / school to an afternoon workout (as I was in the photos above) or you like to workout first thing in the morning before starting your day (seriously impressed by those of you who can do this!), you’ve probably developed a bit of a routine. Wash face, get changed, tie up hair, grab sneakers and go. And then after, as in my case, come home, shower immediately, and then curl up in a ball. And blame your pilates instructor for your inability to move from the fetal position.

To bring awareness to the Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant line, I’ve teamed up with Dove and Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba to come up with a few favorite personal care tips for workouts. These tips are all super easy for you to incorporate into your existing routines!

My Favorite Personal Care Tips for Workouts
  1. Don’t over-exfoliate: Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba advises to lay off intense exfoliation, especially during the cooler months of the year. While many people think that rubbing off dead skin cells daily will improve skin, it actually dehydrates your skin and could lead to breakouts when combined with the sweat from workouts.
  2. Cleanse before and after: I use a cleansing wipe before each workout… and after the workout, I either use another cleansing wipe or actually wash my face. Before always putting on my moisturizer and sunscreen. Gyms and fitness studios are germy environments, so cleansing regularly is a good way to ensure that those germs don’t cause you to breakout… or get sick!
  3. Drink a lot of water: Hydrating is so important during workouts. Drinking enough water is important to “help decrease inflammation and keep your skin feeling and looking its best,” according to Dr. Barba.
  4. Don’t irritate areas with sensitive skin: Underarms, for instance, have very sensitive skin. And certain textures and fabrics can irritate that skin. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant is formulated with moisturizers to help alleviate irritation and leave you with softer and smoother underarms (plus it provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection).

A big thank you to Dove for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
